About Laurie Schadegg
Executive coach, leadership strategist, and board advisor. Founder of the Promise Leadership Lab — a three-to-twelve-month partnership for values-driven leaders who want to clarify their vision, strengthen their leadership, and leave a legacy they are proud of.
The Origin
Everything I teach about clarity, patience, and legacy, I learned first from a view.
I grew up on a farm. From our back porch you could see the horizon in every direction — sunsets after a long day in the field, cattle spread across the land, storms forming hours before they arrived.
That view taught me the four things I have spent a career proving out: look ahead. Pay attention. Prepare with intention. And keep moving when the conditions change — because they will.
My father shaped most of it. He was the one who taught me that character is what holds when the weather turns. I promised him I would one day write a book built around those lessons. That promise is still with me, and it still shapes how I think about legacy — not as something you leave at the end, but as something you build on purpose, starting now.
Then I spent more than four decades leading. Teams and P&L. Mergers and integrations. Boards and governance. Developing the executives who would run the place next. I sat in the seat, made the calls, and lived with the consequences.
And I kept seeing the same thing: brilliant, accomplished leaders stepping into greater influence without a real thinking partner and without honest accountability. They did not need more information. They needed clarity, candor, and someone who had been where they were standing.
Leadership is integrity in motion. It is not what you say in a keynote — it is how your values show up on an ordinary Tuesday.
That is what this practice is. Coaching built on principles tested across forty years of operating, not theory borrowed from a textbook. I will tell you the truth, and I will make it safe to hear.

Who I Work With
Executives and rising leaders in healthcare and growth organizations, at the point where the next seat asks for something the last one did not.
The clients who thrive here are motivated by growth, learning, and contribution — more than by title, prestige, or control. They are accomplished on paper and, privately, sometimes wonder whether they are equipped for what comes next. That question is not a weakness. It is usually the first honest signal that you are standing at an inflection point.
...are looking for affirmation of what you already believe. I am glad to be an encourager, but I am not here to agree with you. If the goal is to have your current thinking confirmed, we would both be wasting good time.
My promise: clarity for your dreams,
and practical tools to move toward them
with integrity, courage, and purpose.
You do not need to have everything figured out before we talk.
Off the Clock
I still start slow. Quiet mornings, journaling, yoga. I take pictures, I paint, I read more than I probably should, and I am almost always learning something new. Given a choice, I will be outside — somewhere I can see the sky.
None of that is separate from the work. The clarity I ask my clients for is the same clarity I have to practice myself, every day, before the noise starts.
